A Spring Hill man, Jose Alberto Vazquez Carrasco, 32, was arrested on July 10 after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from her place of employment and stabbing her in the abdomen. The victim had ended their relationship on July 9 and was dropped off at work around midnight, where Vazquez was waiting.
Vazquez grabbed the victim by her hair, held a knife to her neck, and forced her into his vehicle. Witnesses observed the incident, one of whom recorded Vazquez forcing the victim into the car. Surveillance footage showed Vazquez making a lunging motion toward the victim before forcing her into the front passenger seat. The victim was later dropped off on Oberlin Street, where deputies located her and transported her to a local hospital before transferring her to a trauma hospital. Vazquez was arrested at a traffic stop on Deltona Boulevard and admitted to confronting the victim and forcing her into his car, but denied intentionally stabbing her.
Vazquez has been charged with one count of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was initially held without bond.
