A 54-year-old Spring Hill man was arrested Thursday following an investigation by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit into the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material. Jason Edward Frank, of Spring Hill, was charged with six counts of Possession of Photograph of Sexual Performance by a Child and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Device Containing a Visual Depiction of a Child in a State of Sexual Conduct.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after a tip was received about a possible suspect in possession of child pornography. Deputies executed a search warrant at Frank’s residence, where they found evidence of child sexual abuse material. Frank was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office ICAC Unit works closely with other law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals who possess or distribute child sexual abuse material. The unit uses specialized software and techniques to track down and identify suspects, and works with prosecutors to bring charges against those who are caught.
The case is ongoing, and Frank’s arraignment is pending. Anyone with information about suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation can contact the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office ICAC Unit at (352) 544-7868 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST.
