Juvenile Arrested for Commercial Burglary in Spring Hill

A 16-year-old was arrested by Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detectives on June 30 for a commercial burglary at Roll Up Smoke and Vape, located at 7387 Spring Hill Drive. Hy’keem Aykee Walker was taken into custody after he admitted to the crime and provided details on how he carried it out.

The burglary occurred at 12:20 a.m. on June 30, when a suspect wearing dark clothes, a face covering, black slides, and carrying a dark-colored backpack entered the business by breaking the front glass door with a rock and kicking in a large enough opening. The suspect placed stolen merchandise into the backpack and fled on foot toward Pinehurst Drive. Surveillance video captured the suspect’s actions, and detectives received information claiming that Walker was the suspect. When located, Walker was wearing the same shoes seen in the video and had a vape device in his pocket that was one of the stolen items. He also provided the location of the backpack containing the remaining merchandise.

Walker was charged with one count of commercial burglary and taken into custody by the Department of Juvenile Justice. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detectives were able to solve the case quickly due to the surveillance video and tips from the public.
