A 31-year-old Zephyrhills man was killed and his passenger seriously injured Saturday night, January 6, 2024, after a collision involving an SUV that the Florida Highway Patrol says fled the scene. The crash occurred at approximately 11:12 p.m. at the intersection of Handcart Road and Old Bridge Road in Pasco County.
According to Troopers, a Honda CR-V, driven by 70-year-old Wesley Chapel resident, was involved in the hit-and-run incident. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and seeking information from the public. The victim’s identity has not been released. The passenger was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol are working together to locate the SUV and the driver involved in the hit-and-run incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (813) 488-3411 or the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office at (727) 847-8111.
