A 51-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the death of a 70-year-old woman at a home on Spring Hill Drive, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded shortly before midnight Sunday to a residence located at 7296 Spring Hill Drive after a family member reported finding the woman deceased.
The caller told deputies that they had found the woman unresponsive and not breathing. The Hernando County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and determined that the cause of death was homicide. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
The incident is still under investigation, and authorities have not released any additional information about the suspect or the victim.
