ODESSA, Fla. – A serious crash occurred in Pasco County late Friday night, involving a Pasco County deputy’s vehicle that was stopped at the intersection of State Road 54 and Harbour Lake Drive. The collision happened around 10:30 p.m. on January 19, 2024. According to authorities, a Lutz man, 23, was driving a sedan that crashed into the deputy’s vehicle, which was in the middle of a routine traffic stop. Two other vehicles and two road signs were damaged in the incident.
The Pasco County deputy, who was not identified, was conducting a traffic stop when the Lutz man’s vehicle slammed into the deputy’s vehicle. Fortunately, all three drivers involved in the incident survived. The Lutz man was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and other charges related to the crash. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The deputy was not injured, but the occupants of the other vehicle involved were not specified.
The intersection of State Road 54 and Harbour Lake Drive was closed for several hours while authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the incident. The crash serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of staying alert while driving, especially at night.
