An Inverness man was arrested on Monday night after allegedly burglarizing a golf course and leading authorities on a high-speed chase through neighborhoods.
The suspect, 23-year-old Tyler Wayne Woods, is accused of breaking into the Inverness Golf Club on Monday around 10:30 p.m. He then fled the scene in a vehicle, sparking a pursuit by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. The chase reached speeds of over 90 mph and weaved through residential streets, putting innocent lives at risk.
Deputies were able to apprehend Woods after a brief pursuit, and he was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with burglary and reckless driving. Woods is being held at the Citrus County Detention Center with a bond set at $10,000.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
