An Inverness man was arrested on January 15, 2026, after deputies said he threatened to “burn it all down” to get them to take a theft report. The incident occurred at 1425 SE 2nd Ave, Inverness, in Citrus County.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, 53-year-old Michael Wayne Stacey called 911 on January 15, around 10:30 a.m., to report a theft. However, when deputies arrived, they did not initially take his report. Frustrated, Stacey became agitated and made threats to “burn it all down” if they didn’t take his report.
Deputies arrested Stacey and charged him with disorderly conduct and making a false report to law enforcement. He was booked into the Citrus County Detention Center.
This incident highlights the importance of staying calm and cooperative when interacting with law enforcement. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to report all crimes, but also to be respectful and patient during the reporting process.
