The Nature Coast Sharks baseball team secured a spot as one of the best squads in school history with a 1-0 victory against Land O’ Lakes in their final regular-season home game on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Nature Coast Technical High School in Spring Hill, Fla. The 20-2 Sharks rode a masterful performance by starting pitcher Noah Sanchez and an inning of strong relief from Bryce Hewell to record their seventh shutout victory of the season.
Coach Dan Garofano’s team had been close to achieving 20 wins in a season before, with 19-10 in 2025 and 19-7 in 2024, but finally reached this milestone. Noah Sanchez, a sophomore right-hander, allowed only four hits and held the Gators (18-5) scoreless through six innings, striking out five and walking two while throwing 85 pitches.
Garofano praised Sanchez, saying, “Noah was just outstanding. I talked to my three starting pitchers the other day and challenged them to be more aggressive. Noah’s been great for us all season. He’s done a great job pitching and also has been swinging the bat very well. He’s the kind of kid that wants to learn and he asks a lot of questions. He did a great job being aggressive tonight and he stayed ahead in the count for most of the night.”
This win marks only the fifth time in school history that the Sharks have recorded at least 20 wins in a season.
