Man Indicted on Arson, Murder Charges in Killing of Mother’s Fiance

A man has been indicted on arson and murder charges in connection with the killing of his mother’s fiance. According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the suspect, whose name has not been released, was indicted by a grand jury on January 15, 2023.

The incident occurred on January 10, 2023, around 10:30 a.m., at a residence in Citrus County. The victim, identified as 62-year-old Thomas Johnson, was found dead at the scene. The suspect allegedly set fire to the residence, which was located on Southeast 5th Avenue in Inverness, Citrus County. The motive behind the crime is believed to be related to a dispute between the suspect and the victim, who was engaged to the suspect’s mother.
