Food Pantries and Giveaways in Citrus County

Citrus County, Florida – Many families in Citrus County are grateful for the numerous food pantries and giveaways that help alleviate food insecurities. One such organization, Let’s Feed Citrus, distributes food in an organized manner, as seen during their “turkey day” event in Inverness on Wednesday, November 19.

The Citrus County Veterans Coalition operates a food pantry every Tuesday year-round and on the first and third Thursdays of every month (except July 1 through September 1) from 9 a.m. to noon. Honorably discharged veterans or their surviving spouses can collect food items once per month at 1081 N. Paul St. They can register on any day during normal opening hours or by contacting Richard Floyd at 352-400-8952 for alternate arrangements.

Other organizations offering food assistance include St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, which provides free boxes of food from its pantry. The Salvation Army operates a food pantry from Monday to Thursday at 712 S. School Ave. in Lecanto, serving hot meals to those in need at Daystar in Crystal River on Tuesdays and at the Lions Club in Homosassa on Wednesdays.

Additionally, North Oak Church offers food and other necessities. The Citrus County Veterans Coalition Pantry and other organizations provide essential support to those struggling with food insecurity in the area.
