On Thursday morning, a vehicle accidentally drove into a retention ditch in Spring Hill due to flooding caused by heavy rain. Units E6 and R13 from Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to the incident at the intersection of Mariner Boulevard and Monarch Street.
The two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle with water rising to just below the windows. Firefighters safely rescued both the driver and passenger with no injuries reported. Storm conditions kept Hernando County Fire Rescue units busy throughout the morning.
