On Monday, February 26, 2024, around 10:30 a.m., Citrus County School officials received an anonymous threat of an active shooter on the campus of Crystal River High School, located at 200 NE 32nd Ave, Crystal River, Florida 34429, in Citrus County.
The threat was investigated, and authorities found no evidence of an active shooter or any immediate danger to students and staff. The school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, and students were kept inside their classrooms until the situation was resolved. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and school officials worked together to investigate the threat and ensure everyone’s safety.
In a separate incident, on Monday night, an explosion and fire occurred at the Inverness Distillery, located at 306 E. Main St, Inverness, Florida 34470, in Citrus County. The cause of the explosion and fire is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported in either incident. The school and local authorities urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
