A 30-year-old New Port Richey man died early July 18 after his motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Trouble Creek Road and Whitetail Lane in Pasco County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. when a Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound on Trouble Creek Road struck a Kia Sorento that had pulled into its path.
Troopers said a 61-year-old New Port Richey woman was stopped at a stop sign on Whitetail Lane before beginning to travel north across Trouble Creek Road through a median opening. The westbound motorcyclist approached the intersection and struck the SUV after it entered his lane of travel. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. Trouble Creek Road is a heavily traveled corridor in Pasco County, and the intersection at Whitetail Lane has seen traffic incidents in the past. Residents and drivers are urged to use caution at intersections, particularly during late-night and early morning hours when visibility is reduced.
