Local Briefs: Storybook Trail, Pantry Donations, and Upcoming Events in Citrus County

Inverness, Citrus County – A new Storybook Trail has been established in Whispering Pines Park, featuring an illustrated children’s book by Daniel Kirk that introduces STEAM concepts. The trail, maintained by the GFWC Woman’s Club of Inverness, includes laminated pages of the book attached to pedestals along a walking trail. The book, which entertains and educates young readers, will be changed approximately every three months.

The Citrus County Abuse Shelter Association (CASA) is seeking donations for its pantry, including household and cleaning supplies, ibuprofen and Tylenol, and specific food items. CASA has also created an Amazon Wishlist to make donations easier. Additionally, several events are coming up in Citrus County, including a Supervisor of Elections outreach event at the Lakes Region Library on July 2, a Primary Election Candidate Forum hosted by the Citrus County Chronicle on July 7, and a League of Women Voters event on July 8 featuring a briefing on coastal climate risks and a meet-and-greet with candidates for the Florida House of Representatives.

  1. Household and cleaning supplies
  2. Ibuprofen and Tylenol
  3. Cooking oil and milk
  4. Enfamil Bentleease formula
  5. Breakfast items, crackers, tea, decaf coffee pods, butter, sugar and sweeteners
