Inverness July Fireworks Get $2,500 Boost from TDC

The city of Inverness has received a $2,500 donation from the Citrus County Tourist Development Council (TDC) to support its July 3 Patriotic Evening event, which features a fireworks display. The donation was announced during the June 16 Inverness City Council meeting by City Manager Eric Williams.

Inverness City Council members and staff pose in limited-edition Summer of 250 shirts and trucker hats celebrating the city’s monthlong observance of America’s 250th anniversary. The merchandise highlights Inverness and mascot Sunny Cooter and is available through the end of June as part of the communitywide celebration leading up to the July 3 Patriotic Evening event. The TDC also donated $2,500 each to the city of Crystal River for their July 4 fireworks and the Homosassa Area Council for their July 4 fireworks displays.

“We are so happy,” Williams said. “This is an historic event, working together with the county, Homosassa and Crystal River to bring these free events to the public.” The city’s America 250 celebration is part of a larger communitywide observance, with events and activities planned throughout the month of July.

The Inverness July 3 Patriotic Evening event is set to take place at Whispering Pines Park. The city encourages residents and visitors to attend and participate in the celebration.
