Homosassa Man Arrested After Stealing Vehicle, Leading Deputies on Chase

A 30-year-old Homosassa man was arrested after stealing a vehicle and leading Citrus County deputies on a chase before crashing on Friday night.

The incident began around 10:30 p.m. when deputies received a report of a stolen vehicle in Homosassa. The suspect, identified as Jesse Michael Lee, was driving the vehicle when he was spotted by deputies. Lee led authorities on a chase, reaching speeds of over 80 mph, before crashing into a tree at Southeast 110th Street and Southeast 123rd Avenue in Homosassa.

Lee was taken into custody and charged with grand theft auto, resisting arrest with violence, and reckless driving. He was transported to the Citrus County Detention Center, where he was booked and held on $15,000 bond.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Homosassa Fire Department during the incident.
