Citrus County Losing Economic Development Director

Citrus County is set to lose its economic development director. The county commission approved a resolution on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, to advertise for a replacement for the position currently held by Crystal River native Ben Johnson.

Johnson has served in the role since 2019 and has been instrumental in bringing new businesses and jobs to the area. His last day with the county is May 31, 2024. The Citrus County Economic Development Council will continue to operate, but Johnson’s departure leaves a significant gap in leadership.
