A recent letter to the editor expressed concerns over former President Donald Trump’s promises and actions, specifically his claims on the campaign trail and his current plans. When asked about Americans’ financial situations, Trump replied, “Not even a little bit. I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation.” The letter highlights that gasoline prices have increased by 28.4 percent, coffee by 18.5 percent, beef by 17.8 percent, fresh vegetables by 11.5 percent, and hot dogs by 10.7 percent.
The letter also criticizes Trump’s focus on his plans for a 90,000-square-foot White House ballroom, demanding $1 billion in taxpayer dollars, and building a 250-foot-tall Triumphal Arch to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary. The cost to resurface the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was expected to be less than $2 million but is now over $13 million. Additionally, the Pentagon estimates that direct U.S. military operations in the war with Iran have cost $29 billion so far.
Some of Trump’s other actions mentioned in the letter include reversing his campaign pledge to stop Chinese nationals from buying American farmland within 24 hours of meeting Xi Jinping and planning to drop his $10 billion IRS lawsuit to create a $1.7 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund.
