In recent games, several high school softball teams in and around Citrus County have seen mixed results. On March 17, Williston defeated Crystal River 5-2 on the road. The Red Devils broke through with two runs in the third inning and added insurance runs late, including two in the sixth and one in the seventh. Crystal River managed just four hits in the loss.
On March 19, Bronson lost 6-2 on the road at Union County. The Eagles were held scoreless through six innings before pushing across two runs in the seventh. Union County built its lead with two runs in both the third and fourth innings, then added two more in the sixth. The next day, Bronson fell 6-5 in eight innings at home against Branford. Bronson led late and held Branford scoreless through six innings, but Branford erupted for five runs in the seventh to force extras. Bronson answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game, but Branford scored the go-ahead run in the eighth and held on. Chiefland also dropped a non-conference matchup on March 20, falling 8-4 on the road at Suwannee. The Indians got off to a strong start, scoring two runs in the first and adding another in the second to take an early lead. Chiefland extended its advantage to 4-1 through four innings, but Suwannee responded with a five-run fifth inning to take control. On March 20, Williston fell 5-4 at The Villages Charter. The Red Devils took an early lead with three runs in the third inning, but The Villages answered with a three-run fourth.
