Citrus County Residents Sound Off on Data Center and Gun Safety

Residents of Citrus County are speaking out on various issues affecting their community. On March 24, 2026, the Citrus County Chronicle published a series of letters to the editor, highlighting concerns and opinions on a proposed data center and gun safety.

The data center in question has sparked debate over its potential impact on the environment and energy usage. One resident argued that data centers use tremendous amounts of cooling, but this is done through a closed, recirculated system that minimizes water loss. The resident claimed that the water used in the system is purified and could be drinkable. Regarding electrical usage, the resident noted that this is a matter between Duke Energy and the company proposing the data center.

Another resident expressed frustration with gun safety, citing frequent shooting incidents in residential areas, particularly in Citrus Springs. The resident called for stricter laws to prevent such incidents, especially in neighborhoods with children.

A third resident announced their decision to vote for Rebecca Bays, citing her as a preferable candidate.
