Eagles Soar Past Wildcats in District Semifinal

On Monday night, the Springstead Eagles, led by Head Coach David Kortman, traveled to the Bears’ Den in Brooksville to host the Wesley Chapel Wildcats in the Class 3A District 8 Semifinal. The Eagles, with a record of 12-3, dominated the game, winning 48-0 against the Wildcats, who had a record of 3-12.

The change of venue due to construction on the Springstead Eagles’ football field did not seem to affect the team’s performance. Freshman quarterback Kennedy Spooner led the team with five touchdown passes, two each to wide receivers Addisson Osborne and Driola Mulja. Coach Kortman praised Spooner for her growth throughout her first season, stating, “She started out a little shaky, but as the season progressed, she has more than exceeded our expectations. She is playing awesome right now.”

The Eagles’ offense found paydirt on every single possession of regulation, with the visitors never standing a chance. The team’s performance was impressive, with Kennedy Spooner, 8, lateraling the ball and Addisson Osborne, 15, catching the ball during the game.
