A man was killed early on April 13 in a crash on Blanton Road after his vehicle left the roadway and caught fire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The Toyota RAV4 was traveling northbound south of Parrish Grove Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to enter the shoulder and collide with a fence and two trees.
The vehicle caught fire upon impact and was severely burned. The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The Hernando County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
