Data Center Proposal Returns to Citrus County

The Citrus County Planning Commission will consider a proposal for a data center at its meeting on June 18, 2024, at 5:00 PM, at the Citrus County Government Building, 405A W. Adams St., Inverness, Florida.

The proposal, which was previously considered in February, involves the construction of a 72,000-square-foot data center on a 5.5-acre parcel in the Southeast 44th Street and Southeast 113th Avenue area of Inverness. The applicant, Citrus County Data Center LLC, is seeking a special exception to allow the data center in the Agricultural-1 zoning district.

The data center would be a large facility that would house computer servers and other equipment for data storage and processing. The proposal has generated interest and concern among local residents, who will have the opportunity to comment on the proposal at the upcoming meeting.

More information on the proposal can be found at the Citrus County Planning Commission’s website or by contacting the Citrus County Planning Department at (352) 749-1397.
