Citrus County voters cast ballots Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, in the 2026 Primary Election, with polling places open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Supervisor of Elections Maureen “Mo” Baird urged voters who skipped early voting to confirm their assigned polling locations before heading out and to bring valid photo identification.
Early voting wrapped up Saturday with a 19.5% voter turnout, according to the Citrus County Supervisor of Elections Office. Baird credited her staff, poll workers and community partners for their preparation efforts. “Preparing voters for Election Day takes place long before the polls open,” Baird said. “We are proud of the work our staff, poll workers and community partners have done to help voters prepare, and we are ready to serve Citrus County voters today.”
Voters must cast ballots at their assigned precincts. The Supervisor of Elections Office at 1500 N. Meadowcrest Blvd. in Crystal River is not an Election Day polling location and will not accept ballots there. Residents can find their correct polling place using the Precinct Finder at VoteCitrus.gov. Florida law requires all voters to present valid photo and signature identification at the polls. Voters may also bring a marked sample ballot as a reference while voting.
Election officials are reminding voters to carefully review their ballots before submitting them. In races instructing voters to “Vote for One,” selecting more than one candidate results in an overvote, meaning no vote is counted in that contest. Voters who still hold unreturned vote-by-mail ballots should not bring them to an Election Day polling location. Completed mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office at 1500 N. Meadowcrest Blvd. in Crystal River no later than 7 p.m. Tuesday.
