On May 22, 2026, the Citrus County School Board chambers hosted a special opening exercise, celebrating the achievements of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H members. The iconic blue corduroy jackets of FFA and the green of 4-H were represented, symbolizing commitment, discipline, leadership, and a connection to Citrus County’s agricultural way of life.
The event followed the successful 2026 Citrus County Fair, which took place during spring break. For many students, educators, and volunteers, spring break is not a time to rest, but an opportunity to work tirelessly, caring for animals, preparing projects, and representing months of effort and dedication. School Board member Thomas Kennedy attended the exercises, highlighting the importance of these organizations in the community.
The FFA members present included Kelsey Wright, Brileigh Dahl, Austyn Knoble, Mackenzie Crain, Wesley Crain, Tyler Swainston, Cooper Ewing, and Lecanto High School teacher Steve Richardson.
