U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis came to Spring Hill on April 6 to recognize volunteers from Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus counties. The event, which took place at a local venue, was attended by a nearly full hall of people there to support the honorees.
Among those honored were Bob Morgan, YouThrive, and staff members from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, including Sgt. Dustin Adkins, Deputy Jason Deso, Deputy Chris Morito, Deputy Ashley May, Deputy Lauren Janezic, Deputy Victor Latty, Deputy Brian Timothy, Deputy Ben Witherell, Deputy Jack Evans, and Deputy Juan Perez. Others recognized included Lynn Skelton of Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside, Chris Hogarth of Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast, Christine Smith of Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast, Mary Christopher of Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast, Mike Tutko of the United Way of Hernando County, Freddie Hinson Jr. and Martha Maner of the Hernando County Family YMCA Togetherhood Program, Katie Henry of the Hernando County Family YMCA, William Bair of the Hernando County Family YMCA, and Ellen Frank of People Helping People Hernando County.
The volunteers were recognized for their service to the community, and Bilirakis entered their service records into the Congressional Record. This event highlights the impact that volunteers have on their communities and the importance of their contributions.
