The annual Stuff the Bus school supplies drive is underway in Citrus County to stock the “teacher store” at the Citrus County School District. The drive, which began on July 24, aims to collect essential items for local students and teachers. According to organizers, the teacher store provides vital supplies to students in need, and the community’s support is crucial in making this happen.
Nancy Kennedy, a reporter for the Citrus County Chronicle, noted that the drive is organized by the Citrus County School District and local businesses. Community members can drop off donations of school supplies, such as pencils, pens, paper, and backpacks, at various locations throughout Citrus County, including the Citrus County School District office, located at 1301 W. Woodland St., Inverness. The drive will continue until August 11.
Some of the most needed items include pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, and backpacks. The Citrus County School District is also accepting monetary donations, which will be used to purchase additional supplies. Those interested in donating can also contact the Citrus County School District at (352) 749-2000 for more information.
Last year, the Stuff the Bus drive collected over 5,000 items and $1,500 in monetary donations. Organizers hope to exceed that amount this year. The community’s support will help ensure that local students have the necessary tools to succeed in the upcoming school year.
