The Afro-American Club of Citrus County (AACCC) has set a new record by awarding $25,000 in 21 scholarships to students in Citrus County on June 6, 2026. The scholarships were given to three categories of recipients: graduating high school seniors, adults returning to school, and individuals preparing for careers in public service.
The AACCC has been uplifting the community for 37 years, and since 1989, they have awarded over $200,000 in scholarships. The club’s president, Ron Daly, said, “Though we are a small minority, just 3 percent of Citrus County’s population, our commitment is immeasurable.” The scholarships were awarded at the annual Scholarship Picnic/Luncheon at the George Washington Carver Center in Crystal River.
The AACCC members attended high school awards ceremonies at Crystal River, Lecanto, Citrus, and Seven Rivers Christian School, where they saw the positive impact of their scholarships on students’ lives. Two adult education scholarships were also awarded at the June 6 event. Some of the scholarship recipients include Nathan Arjona, Genesis Moncrieft, Mason Robie, Alecia Elliot, Eli Burnett, Cayson Davis, Amya Francois, Tyler Simmons, and Colton Wilson.
The AACCC’s efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of many students in Citrus County. For more information about the Afro-American Club of Citrus County, visit their website or contact them directly.
