Citrus County Honeybee Farm Devastated by Fire, Estimated $1M Loss

A devastating fire ripped through a honeybee farm in Citrus County on Sunday morning and into the evening, leaving the owner facing a near $1 million loss. The fire occurred at Honey Haven, a processing facility and honey farm located at 3525 SE 58th Ave, Crystal River, around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The owner, Jeff Flowers, reported that the fire burned down the processing facilities, which included a large warehouse and several equipment storage buildings. The estimated loss is around $1 million, which includes not only the physical structures but also the equipment and honey inventory. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, and the cause is still under investigation.

Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the fire, which took several hours to bring under control. The fire was finally put out by Sunday evening. The loss is significant for Honey Haven, which is a well-known local business that has been operating in Citrus County for many years.

The community is rallying around Flowers and Honey Haven, offering support and assistance in the aftermath of the fire. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with the recovery efforts and to support the business.
