A 68-year-old Palm Harbor woman died Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Trinity, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Epiphany Way and Tryfon Boulevard in a shopping plaza area.
Investigators said a Jeep Wrangler driven by a 45-year-old woman from New Port Richey was traveling northbound on Epiphany Way when the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders who arrived shortly after the collision was reported.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Troopers have not released the names of either the victim or the driver involved in the incident. No charges have been announced at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
Trinity is located in western Pasco County, near the border with Pinellas County. The intersection of Epiphany Way and Tryfon Boulevard is in a busy commercial area with several shopping centers and restaurants.
