Two top administrators in Citrus County have been recognized as the best in their field by the national trade publication Gov Business Review. Steve Howard, Citrus County Administrator, was named County Administrator of the Year for 2026, and Eric Williams, Inverness City Manager, was named one of the Top 10 City Managers for 2026.
The recognition highlights the outstanding work of both Howard and Williams, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and administrative expertise in their respective roles. Howard’s approach to governance has been praised for its steady and experience-built structure, which has led to visible progress across Citrus County. Williams, who did not originally plan to work in government, has brought an enthusiastic approach to building partnerships, as seen in recent city-county government collaborations.
Howard expressed his gratitude for the award, saying, “I am honored and humbled to receive this award. I share this recognition with Team Citrus. Leadership begins with people. You have to get the right people in the right seats, then let them do their jobs. My role is to create an environment where people can contribute, advance ideas and take ownership.”
Williams also shared his thoughts on his career path, saying that his outlook benefits the city. He emphasized the importance of building partnerships, as seen in recent collaborations between the city and county governments.
