Trump’s Controversial Pardons and Appointments Spark Concern

On June 11, 2026, President Donald Trump has been criticized for his recent pardons and appointments, which some argue are filling the “swamp” in Washington with billionaire elites and corrupt politicians. According to reports, Trump has pardoned or commuted the sentences of nine federal elected politicians and 11 state and local politicians convicted of corruption charges, letting a total of at least 20 corrupt politicians off the hook.

The pardons and appointments have raised concerns among critics, who argue that Trump’s actions are undermining the country’s institutions and creating a culture of corruption. Trump’s Department of Justice has also dropped cases or charges against two others, and he recently granted a pardon to a politician indicted on bribery charges before the case went to trial. Additionally, Trump appointed Elias Irizarry, a convicted Jan. 6 rioter who was pardoned, to work in the Pentagon’s Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Office.

Some of the billionaire elites who have been protected from exposure by the Trump administration include Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai of Google, and Larry Ellison. Trump’s actions have sparked concerns about the influence of wealthy elites on his administration and the potential for corruption.

In a recent move, Trump named housing official Bill Pulte as acting director of national intelligence. Pulte, a wealthy businessman turned Federal Housing Finance Agency director, has played a leading role in stoking the president’s retribution campaign.
