Three suspects, including two teenagers, face charges after a Brooksville man was beaten and robbed at gunpoint in what Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detectives describe as a premeditated setup. The victim was allegedly lured to a Brooksville home under the false pretense of performing tattoo work before being assaulted, robbed of his handgun, and threatened with his own stolen weapon.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office investigated the violent armed robbery and identified and charged all three suspects. Detectives say the suspects used the promise of tattoo work as bait to get the victim to the location, where he was then beaten and relieved of his firearm. The stolen handgun was then turned on the victim as a threat.
Armed robbery cases involving luring tactics are of particular concern to law enforcement in Hernando County, as they can be difficult to anticipate and leave victims with little opportunity to protect themselves. The involvement of two juveniles in a violent, premeditated crime adds another layer of concern for community safety in the Brooksville area. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has not released the names of the juvenile suspects due to their ages, in accordance with Florida law regarding minors charged with crimes.
