A Tampa Bay pizza chain has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced Thursday. The lawsuit claimed the owner harassed young female servers.
The EEOC did not disclose the terms of the settlement. The pizza chain, identified as Mellow Mushroom, allegedly subjected young female servers to a hostile work environment. The incidents occurred at multiple locations, including one in Pasco County.
The EEOC filed the lawsuit on behalf of several female servers who claimed they were subjected to unwelcome comments, touching, and propositions by management and male coworkers. The servers, aged 18-22, reported the incidents to management, but the company failed to take prompt action.
The settlement resolves the lawsuit, which was filed in federal court. Mellow Mushroom has agreed to implement new policies and training to prevent future harassment.
