CITRUS COUNTY, FL – The State Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges against Citrus County Commissioner, Scott Wooten, following an investigation into allegations against him.
According to a statement released by the State Attorney’s Office, after a thorough review of the evidence, they determined that there was not sufficient evidence to establish probable cause to believe that Commissioner Wooten committed a crime.
The investigation was initiated after complaints were filed against Wooten. The State Attorney’s Office worked closely with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to gather and review evidence.
Wooten, who has been serving on the Citrus County Board of Commissioners since 2016, has maintained his innocence throughout the process. In a statement, he expressed his gratitude to the State Attorney’s Office and the FDLE for their thorough investigation.
The decision by the State Attorney’s Office brings closure to the matter, allowing Commissioner Wooten to continue serving his constituents in Citrus County.
