A Pine Ridge resident, Zerrin Langer, expressed gratitude towards Duke Energy for their prompt response to concerns regarding tree trimming around powerlines in front of her residence. On June 30, Langer wrote a letter to the editor criticizing the company’s initial work, describing it as “crude, unprofessional” and stating that it “should be challenged.” Duke Energy subsequently responded positively to the challenge.
Duke Energy and their tree contractor, Trees LLC, sent employees to re-evaluate the trees. A newly hired district manager of Trees LLC, Scott Boydson, met with Langer and her neighbors at her home. Boydson agreed to redo the tree trimming in accordance with national standards. A Duke Energy representative then confirmed that the work would be completed “this week,” and it was finished the next day. According to Boydson, the company will implement training and tighter controls to improve the quality of their work in the future.
Langer extended her thanks to Boydson, Mei Ling from Duke Energy’s executive office, Dusty from Duke Energy, Citrus County Commissioner Diana Finegan, Bobby Cahal of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and the Florida Public Service Commission. She also appreciated the support of her neighbors, many of whom reported similar issues with tree trimming on the NextDoor app.
