Pasco County News Briefs: PHSC Hosts Healthcare Roundtable, EMS Crew Honored

Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) convened a roundtable discussion on March 26 to address healthcare workforce shortages in the region. The event, hosted by the college’s Institute for Nursing and Allied Health Advancement, brought together hospital executives, education leaders, and state officials at the Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch. Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Shevaun Harris outlined statewide workforce development priorities and emphasized the importance of partnerships between colleges and healthcare providers.

The roundtable discussion focused on building a stronger pipeline of healthcare workers, improving retention, and aligning college training programs with employer needs. Participants discussed barriers to employee retention, the skills employers will need most over the next three to five years, and opportunities for shared training resources. In other news, five Pasco County Fire Rescue members were recognized for saving a cardiac arrest patient in Zephyrhills.

Additionally, the Wesley Chapel Black Chamber of Commerce celebrated its grand opening on March 25 at Signature Workspace at The Shops at Wiregrass. The event was attended by chamber members and community leaders.
