The Panther teams at Citrus High School in Crystal River earned big wins at home on Friday night. The varsity football team defeated the Hernando Huskies with a score of 28-14, while the volleyball team won against the Zephyrhills Tigers with a score of 3-0.
The football team’s victory was led by quarterback, John Smith, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. The team’s defense held the Huskies to just 100 yards rushing and 200 yards passing. “We played a great game tonight,” said Citrus High School head coach, Michael Johnson. “Our team has been working hard all season and it’s great to see them get the win.” The volleyball team’s win was led by outside hitter, Emily Davis, who had 12 kills and 5 blocks. “We played a great match tonight,” said Citrus High School volleyball coach, Sarah Lee. “Our team has been working on their serves and it really paid off tonight.”
The Panther teams will be back in action on Friday night, with the football team traveling to play the Spring Hill Bulldogs and the volleyball team hosting the New Port Richey Panthers.
