Oak Run Community Plans Comedy Night, Fall Fashion Show This Summer

The Oak Run community in Inverness has two upcoming ticketed events this summer and fall. The Upper Midwest Club will host a comedy night on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Palm Grove Club, featuring comedian Danny Johnson in a show called “Oak Run’s Laugh Lounge.” Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets go on sale Monday, July 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Orchid Club Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for all Oak Run residents.

Danny Johnson brings more than 15 years of clean, original stand-up comedy to the stage. He has performed at comedy clubs, corporate events, and churches nationwide. Johnson has appeared in TV commercials, landed a spot on Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots, and was named a Top 10 Finalist in Florida’s Funniest Comedian competition. His second comedy special, “Everything Bothers Me,” is nearing 200,000 views on Apple Music. A surprise opening act will precede Johnson’s performance. Fruit pops will be distributed at intermission, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own beverages, snacks, and cups.

Oak Run residents also have a Fall Fashion Show to look forward to on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Room Bar and Grill. The event will feature the latest seasonal trends from Jasmine Boutique, available at both regular and sale prices. Tickets are $28 per person and include the fashion show along with a special select lunch menu. Raffle prizes will be offered throughout the afternoon. Organizers encourage attendees to invite friends, including snowbirds returning to the area. Tickets will be available Tuesdays, July 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Organizers expect the event to sell out quickly and urge early ticket purchases.
