New Port Richey residents’ flooding traced to abandoned city pipe

Two New Port Richey homeowners who have been dealing with flooding in their front yards since February 2024 finally have the issue fixed. The flooding issue on their properties, located on

in New Port Richey, Pasco County, Florida, was caused by an abandoned city pipe.

The issue started in early February 2024 and was resolved after the city intervened. According to WFLA, the city of New Port Richey found that an abandoned pipe was causing the flooding. The pipe, which was previously used for irrigation, had been abandoned and was no longer maintained. As a result, water from a nearby canal was seeping into the pipe and then into the homeowners’ yards. The city repaired the pipe, and the flooding was stopped. Homeowners expressed relief that the issue was resolved.
