This weekend, nature enthusiasts and music lovers in Citrus County have two exciting events to look forward to. On Saturday, April 11, Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, in cooperation with Citrus County Audubon Society, will host a bird walk on Pepper Creek Trail. An experienced birder from Citrus County Audubon will lead the walk, which begins at 8 a.m. Participants should meet at 7:45 a.m. at the entrance to the park’s Visitor Center. The trail is fully accessible and approximately 3/4 mile in length.
The bird walk is free to participate in, and attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars and a field guide, although they are not required. For more information, call the park office at 352-423-5600. On Sunday, April 12, everyone is invited to the Second Sunday Sunset Drum Circle at 6 p.m. at Fort Island Gulf Beach Park, 16000 W. Fort Island Trail, Crystal River. If it’s raining at start time, the drum circle will be canceled.
The drum circle, now in its 19th year, takes place approximately two hours before sunset. Participants are encouraged to leave their worries behind and enjoy the moment. This event is open to all, and attendees are welcome to drum and dance on the beach.
