Inverness Unveils Volunteer Program for Summer Events and Community Projects

The city of Inverness is launching a new volunteer program, allowing residents to participate in over 100 annual events and community projects. The program will be discussed at the Inverness City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Inverness City Hall.

The proposed City of Inverness Volunteer Program aims to give residents a direct and meaningful way to be part of the city’s events, beautification, and community programs. Volunteers can assist with special events and festivals, parks and recreation programs, beautification and cleanup projects, and other city initiatives. The program is designed to be simple and accessible, with an easy registration process, clearly defined volunteer roles, and staff support.

City officials plan to promote the program through the city’s website, social media, community events, local meetings, and partnerships with civic groups, churches, and other community organizations. If approved, the program will provide residents with opportunities to get involved and make a positive impact in their community.

Some of the events and projects that volunteers can participate in include the Big Bass, Bluegrass, and BBQ event at Liberty Park, which featured Little Roy Lewis of The Little Roy and Lizzy Show performing on his banjo. The city hopes to attract volunteers who can help make Inverness “Small Town Done Right.”
