The City of Inverness recently honored supporters of the Big Bass, Bluegrass & BBQ Festival. The event, which takes place annually, brings together the community to enjoy music, food, and fun. On Monday night, the Inverness City Council recognized local businesses and individuals who contributed to the festival’s success.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Cuba on Monday, causing shaking to be felt in buildings in Havana and parts of Florida, but there is no reported damage or connection to the Inverness event.
The earthquake occurred around 10:30 a.m. and was centered near Cuba, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The shaking was felt in several areas of Florida, but no damage or injuries were reported in Hernando, Pasco, or Citrus counties.
The Big Bass, Bluegrass & BBQ Festival is a significant event for the Inverness community, attracting visitors from across the region. The festival features live music, local food vendors, and a bass fishing tournament. This year’s event took place on January 15, 2026, at the Citrus County Fairgrounds, located at 3201 W.
