Hernando County Prepares for July 4th Hernando 250 Celebration

Hernando County, Florida – Preparations are underway for the Hernando 250 event, a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The event will take place on July 4th at the Sand Hill Scout Reservation, located in Hernando County. County Commissioner Ryan Amsler led a discussion about the event at a recent interlocal governmental meeting.

The Hernando 250 event will feature fireworks and drone shows, which will be staged one to two thousand feet away from the parking and event areas. The event will last from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and admission and parking will be completely free. The county has allocated $50,000 from the tourism tax for the drone and firework shows. An additional $50,000 has been raised through sponsorships. Commissioner John Allocco noted that the tourism tax money is used to reward Hernando County residents, as it comes from taxes paid by visitors who rent hotel rooms, VRBOs, and other accommodations.

The event aims to bring the community together to celebrate this significant milestone in American history. Citizens can participate in the event and also contribute through sponsorships, with various levels available. For more information about the Hernando 250 event, visit the Hernando County website or contact the County Commissioner’s office.
