Hernando County Development Services to Close April 9, 2026 for Operations Update

Hernando County Development Services will close its offices on April 9, 2026, to implement updated operations procedures. The closure affects all development services functions including building permits, code enforcement, and planning activities throughout Hernando County.

County officials announced the temporary shutdown will allow staff to transition to new operational systems and procedures. The Development Services department handles building permits, zoning applications, code enforcement cases, and planning reviews for residents and businesses across Brooksville, Spring Hill, Weeki Wachee, and other unincorporated areas of Hernando County.

The closure is scheduled for one day only, with normal operations expected to resume on April 10, 2026. Residents and contractors with pending applications or scheduled inspections should contact the department in advance to reschedule any appointments affected by the April 9 closure.

Development Services staff will use the closure day to implement system upgrades and training on new procedures designed to improve service delivery. The department encourages anyone with urgent development-related questions to submit inquiries before the closure date or wait until operations resume the following day.
