18-Year-Old Hudson Man Dies After Being Ejected from Vehicle in Little Road Crash

An 18-year-old Hudson man died after being ejected from his vehicle during a crash on Little Road, south of Fred Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal accident occurred when the driver lost control of his Nissan Xterra while traveling northbound and entered the median.

The Hudson resident was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, FHP investigators reported. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the ejection.

Little Road, a major north-south corridor in western Pasco County, has been the site of multiple serious accidents in recent years. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

This marks another tragic reminder of the importance of seatbelt use, as ejection from vehicles remains one of the leading causes of fatalities in Florida traffic accidents. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that seatbelts reduce the risk of death by 45 percent for front-seat passengers in cars.
