Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has scheduled two executions to take place on the same day, a move that has garnered attention from the public and media alike. The executions are set to occur on August 23, 2024, at Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida.
One of the inmates to be executed is 80-year-old Richard Eugene Lattime, who was convicted of murdering 82-year-old Thomas Knight during a 2011 home invasion in Pasco County. Lattime was sentenced to death and had been on death row for over a decade. The other inmate, a former officer, has not been named in the reports from WFLA.
According to WFLA, Lattime’s execution will be carried out by lethal injection at 3:00 PM on August 23. The Florida Department of Corrections confirmed that the execution is scheduled to take place at the Florida State Prison, which is located at 3865 Florida State Prison Road, Raiford.
