The Southwest Florida Water Management District reported that drought conditions continue to affect the region. As of the latest update, several areas in Citrus, Hernando, and Pasco counties remain under a Stage 1 drought, which means that water conservation measures are in place.
According to the district, the drought has been ongoing for several months, with below-average rainfall contributing to the dry conditions. The affected areas include Inverness, Crystal River, and other parts of Citrus County, as well as Brooksville, Spring Hill, and Dade City in Hernando and Pasco counties. Residents are being asked to take steps to conserve water, such as fixing leaks and using drought-resistant plants for landscaping.
