Citrus County Under Burn Ban Again

Citrus County, Florida – A burn ban has been reinstated in Citrus County due to critical fire conditions. The ban, which took effect on January 15, 2023, prohibits all outdoor burning, including yard waste and debris fires.

The Citrus County Board of Commissioners implemented the ban to prevent wildfires and protect residents and property. The ban will remain in effect until further notice. Residents are advised to check with the Citrus County Fire Rescue department for updates on the burn ban.

Some exceptions to the ban include:

  1. Prescribed burns conducted by authorized personnel
  2. Fires for cooking or warmth, such as campfires or fire pits, that are properly contained and monitored

Residents are encouraged to dispose of yard waste and debris through alternative methods, such as composting or using a mulching service.
